SaraAssistant Manager - Marc

Born and bred in Wallsend, Marc is the archetypal cheeky chap. He exudes warmth as you’d expect from a true Geordie, but there’s far more to Marc than just his infectious local charm. Marc is a hard-working family man. He and his partner had their first child Charlie last year. As a new father going through the expected periods of ‘no sleep’ Marc stoically soldiers on and has never been late for work despite being more than just a little tired at times. Marc has another family member too, Millie the Bulldog, who is described by Marc as ‘soft as clarts’. Millie absolutely loves the new addition, little Charlie.

Interesting stuff

As well as being an avid supporter of Newcastle United, Marc also plays football. In his youth he travelled to France, Italy and Spain competing in international youth tournaments. This talented midfielder raised the cup on more than one occasion and continues to play for his local Wallsend team. Marc’s passion for sport doesn’t end with football, he also follows boxing, UFC and MMA. Marc truly is a man amongst men and a great addition to the City Tavern team.

Funny story

Boys holiday to Ibiza 2009: Marc and his mates booked into their hotel, dropped their bags and ventured out for some entertainment and liquid refreshment. Several hours later Marc realised he’d lost his pals. As it was very late (or should that be very early) Marc decided to head back to the hotel. When he awoke he found himself tucked away in the corner of a busy dining room wearing the same clothes he was wearing the night before. It transpired Marc had stumbled into the wrong hotel and just made himself comfortable wherever he could. The restaurant manager of the 4 star hotel was less than impressed when Marc jumped up from behind some fixed seating startling the lunchtime diners. Needless to say Marc wasn’t asked if he wanted a table, in-fact the last word Marc remembers coming from the lips of the restaurant manager was “SECURITY”.

Favourite food

Mark likes a good steak and his favourite steak is a medium rare ribeye. No surprise then that he chooses to eat at City Tavern when off duty.

Favourite tipple

Cask Ale… one of Marc’s reasons for applying for a job at City Tavern was to have the opportunity to work with a wide range of cask ales. As we have ten this suits Marc down to the ground.

A bit more trivia

Mark is known by his colleagues as the Tasmanian Devil… Q. “has anyone seen Marc?” A. “he’s in the kitchen, no he’s on the upstairs bar, no he’s just gone downstairs again” …need we say more âÂº What else can we say about Marc? He does great impersonations of Mrs. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump, and our very own Team Leader Euklid (to name but a few). The stage beckons? Probably not Marc…
